Ready. Set. WRITE! Week Three

How I did on last week’s goals:

So I’m excited to say that I finished my WIP last week! There’s nothing like the rush that comes with finishing a first draft–that sense of amazement that comes when another book is completed. And it’s that heady relief of being finished…before remembering all the edits that will follow ;).

I also finished the book I was reading (The Sweetest Dark) and started another (Ignite Me), so I met that goal, too.

Three years old already!

Three years old already!

Proud of myself for both of these things since it was a busy week! June is a ridiculously busy month, but this last week was impossible: Father’s Day, my sweet little boy’s 3rd birthday, Mom’s birthday, and our anniversary. IN ONE WEEK. Tons of fun, just…overwhelming.

The only thing I didn’t do was blog (outside of this post), so I need to get to it!

Goals for this week:

-Finish reading and critiquing my CP’s awesome new WIP (no problem there because it’s a fun read!)

-Get started on edits on my WIP

-Finish reading Ignite Me

-Work on copy-edits for Arcana if I get them this week

A favorite line from my WIP (this is my first line):

The crow’s circling flight above our heads was the first ill omen we received that day, but it wouldn’t be the last.

The biggest challenge I faced this week:

Definitely the number of things I had to do this week!

Something I love about my WIP:

That the first draft is FINISHED.

Congrats on finishing your WiP! What a great feeling, hey? Hope your edits go well this week! Oh, and that line you shared is really good. It definitely makes us want to know what the other ill omens will be. And, of course, what exactly they’re warning about! Good luck this week, Jessica! 😀

First draft success! Great to hear. I also enjoy reading other people’s manuscripts especially when you know their writing style and know it’s going to be good. 🙂

Sounds like a very busy week! I can’t believe you managed to finish your draft with everything else you had going on! A big congratulations on that! The line you shared from your WIP is very intriguing. The first ill omen but not the last? That’s quite the hook in that one sentence alone! Have a great week and good luck with your latest goals!
